What do I need to participate?
All you need to participate is a bike, bag/backpack/pannier/cargo bike (to carry groceries purchased), lock, helmet and a sense of adventure. Expect to spend ~$10-12 dollars on non-perishable goods during the ride.
When and where is the ride happening?
The Cranksgiving ride will start at 2pm on November 21st. The ride will start and end at Aggieland Cycling. Registration will start at 1pm. When you register for the ride, you will be given a manifest with the list of checkpoints. Then the route planning fun begins!
Is this a race?
Most riders do this ride as a scavenger hunt rather than a race. While some may choose to treat it as a race, there is no obligation to do so. The main focus of the ride is to have fun in the name of a worthy cause.
Is there a registration fee?
Instead of a formal registration fee, we do ask for each participant to bring a personal care item to be donated when they register at the start of the race. The Brazos Valley Food Bank is always in need of toiletries (soap, shampoo, deoderent), diapers, paper towels and toilet paper.
Will there be prizes?
Yes! We will have prizes for the most generous riders, fastest and more.
Is there an afterparty?
Of course! Join us at Aggieland Cycling after the ride for cold drinks, food and fun.
Planning to attend!
Suggestion: Have a vehicle staged at each of the 4 grocery stores to place donations. That way we can donate more than we can carry.
Hey Maury, glad you are planning to attend! We are trying to keep it bike focused and part of the fun is finding a way to carry the items on your bike. The food bank will also accept monetary donations if any one is interested in donating more than they can carry.
